In the last two months I have obtained an Xbox 360 Elite and a Playstation 3. The 360 out of love, it has the best games, the best graphics and the best Online capabilities, the Playstation 3 I bought mainly for the Blu-Ray option so my wife and I can continue our hobby which is collecting movies where she was forced to go with Blu-Ray as her favorite publisher Disney doesn’t publish on HD-DVD, not yet in my opinion as I will see them moving away from BR in the future.
I already had the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360, which is kind of sad as the white drive has to stand now next to a black console, maybe I’ll skin it to solve that problem. It’s like going with the flow, you don’t want to stay behind, but your also afraid what’s going to happen in the future, which player is going to be the winner, or is it like LG thinks, who made recently a hybrid player which is to me the best solution for now if you are not into gaming and just want to watch movies. People who think I will become an avid Playstation 3 player are dead wrong, I got one free game with my console, Resistance – Fall of Man, where a lot of $onyFans say it the best game, blah, blah, blah, but in my opinion this game sucks big time, where you can see that this game needed to be finished within a time frame, plus the graphics are not that all, as for environments it looks pretty good, but if you look at the characters on a 50” widescreen you think you’re playing Call of Duty 1. PS3 Interface is by far from good, I have no words for it, the lack of design capabilities are way out of this world which you would never expect from a company like Sony as they can build pretty decent designs where Microsoft did with the 360 Interface exactly what an interface for a game console needs to be, colorful, easy to navigate and easy to build on, plus you can have you own styles and background images which makes it all so much better. Why Sony has taken this road with the interface is still a big clue for me where ‘Home’ the online interface is similar to Sims which I can’t stand like many others who think likewise. ‘Home’ makes everything so slow and so hard to get from point A to point B, where with the 360 Interface it’s just clicking up and down and from left to right and vice versa, a child can operate the 360, where we need a manual to go through the PS3 interface. Another sad story is, that I was able to store every remote control in the house in my Harmony 720 except for the Playstation3/BR Remote which works with Bluetooth, again a thing where Sony didn’t think about the millions of people who have all so much remotes laying around and can’t even be replaced by a Universal Remote. But then again I made that move to have two black consoles as that fits better in our living room and media cupboard. Now all I have to do is to wait for a black Wii.
