The Xbox 360 is a fine concept of a machine, but let's face it. It is not built as sturdy as a rock. Disk errors and red rings of death plague quite a few machines. To adapt, the Xbox 360 owners are forced to find a way to repair and modify these machines on their own. Some even break their warranty to find the underlying issue and fix it themselves. Third party companies such as Niko and Mad Catz have found ways to capitalize on Microsoft's flaws in the 360, and they plan to act accordingly. Nyko has created the external Intercooler to increase the air flow inside your 360 in hopes of reducing the chance of a burnout. Pelican has a familiar Fan Stand which is less successful, but it is overall the same concept.
The Twighlight Flow is the only third party accessory ,so far, that is a liquid cooler built for the 360. Though I don't see why any other liquid coolers wouldn't work.
Though these third party fans sound like a saving grace, be careful. A lot of the fans have the option to run off the 360's power source. Doing this will totally defeat the purpose of the fan entirely. Also, the use of some fans are not covered at all by the 360 warranty, so you can just forget to mention that one little detail. Another problem with fans exist, some just suck. Read a buyer's review before you decide to buy one.
Another infamous flaw in the 360 is the disc drive. Often donning names such as unstable, wrathful, and random. Some disc drives are known to mark your CD with a circle of its own. This is the result of the game or DVD disc making contact with the lens in some models of the 360. If you're lucky then you can save the disc, but if you're looking to take care of the source there's a youtube video for that too.
Quick CD Disc fix with home appliances: Get some toothpaste on tissue Apply toothpaste to CD Rub in thoroughly Wash off with warm water Thoroughly, use the t80s 9f 697r f8ngers to help rub out toothpaste Let the CD dry off some Apply alcohol Finish drying with tissues
The red ring of terror has made quite the campaign of hostility towards gamers this generation. Many have sought to battle it with quick, but temporary, fixes before they turn it in.
Ring of Terror quick fix with home appliances: Disconnect 360 from TV Wrap 360 with 2 thick towels Turn 360 on for 30-45 minutes Leave it off for 15 minutes Continue playing 360 Results will vary depending on your towels and your 360.
There are also many miscellaneous facts that you would want to know to keep your 360 in top shape. Such as do not keep your 360 in enclosed space especially with another running electrical appliance. The result will consist of "nuclear war". Give your 360 plenty of space to breathe, and it will be less likely to melt down. Another thing to keep in mind about your 360 is that it is more stable if sit horizontally. In the vertical position, the 360 is more apt to damage your games causing quite the scene, (so if you're considering buying a fan for your 360 do not get one that requires you to sit your 360 on the vertical position for it to work.) Last and foremost, do not move your 360 while it is on. This will eat up whatever unfortunate CD that happens to be in your 360, and Microsoft will not have sympathy for you because they expect you to read the papers that comes with your 360 (the nerve).
Remember, breaking the seal of warranty is the point of no return. I recommend not doing so unless you seriously know what you're doing.
Note: Microsoft has recently changed the warranty from 1 to 3 years, Wolrdwide!
