Achievement points, some have their 10 thousand achievement point clubs and others are content with what they have below 10,000. How ever I think the real question at hand here is how many hours of dedicated gameplay does this require? Well the answer is simply... a lot. I mean me myself I have only finished about 2 games. And guess what!? They're arcade titles, I've only beat Spyglass board games and Bomberman Live. And I mean Bomberman was fun and all in about 5 hours of the time I've spent playing was boring!
I mean I got my hour count from the live-eye site where they watch your every move on Xbox Live. Now with this in mind I don't have a problem with it seeing what I'm doing since I'm an avid xbox 360 gamer ever since I got my Elite back in May when it was released here in Canada. Anyways back on topic, I finished Spyglass Board Games in about 2 hours, however the game was way to easy for my liking but is fun to play against friends for the fun of it, regardless of the double turn glitch. But the real deal of this article is what are you guys as gamers playing for on Xbox Live? Is it the drug that so many other gamers have fallen in for? Achievement points? or for fun and gameplay? I myself have been getting addicted to this "Achievement Unlocked" thing that has popped up at the bottom of my screen numerous times. I mean sure I'm addicted to it and I've got only around 5000+ gamer points, but I'm addicted to it and try to get as many achievements on as many games as I can. Currently awaiting BioShock and Two Worlds. Anyways I've got that to deal with (The Addiction). Then their are other people who just buy the game for the 1000 achievement points that the game has and those people tend to team up with other people to see how many they can get with the proposed boosting technique. Now I'm saying this straight forward, I'm not going to say I havn't done this before, I have but only in ShadowRun, I think my gamerscore in that is about 530? Anyways, I have this one game that I had to put down for a while due to an addiction of the achievements. I mean sure it's fun but I went from having 38 achievements to 46 in one day, or should I say 5 hours. This game is called Crackdown, I'm only missing 4 achievements however if I do get them this will be my first retail title completed! Anyways so the point of this article is seeing what players will do just for achievements. I sat down and talked to one of my Achievement earning friends, Black Revenger. Black Revenger as I know him as another name as I do know him in real life, yes I actually have a life! Anyways I talked to him about this once, he calls it the Achievement war. Players fighting for achievements that others don't have in an eager race to be the top player in the country. Now I can tell you he has spent a great deal of money in and on games(renting and buying) just to get another 1000 gamer points. Although he has 44,000+ achievement points or gamerscore as Microsoft calls it. There are people who have around 100,000 etc. Now there is nothing wrong with getting achievements like this, just another gamer to me. Just how much money is needed to be spent into developing this gamerscore? Rough estimate a couple hundred. I've only owned around 8 games max at one time, and I havn't beat most of them or got over 500 due to the extreme complications that I get bored playing the same thing over and over again. And I say this again... How much money does it take? Are you willing to buy a game just for achievement points? because others are apparently. Have any of you guys just bought or rented a game just for an achievement or achievements? We are all guilty of it. Until next time, David Cluett (aka Prospektor Fury) out.
