Introduction

This game is simply for the ruthless, people who strive to survive the worst conditions. And being able to think and react quickly. This is where we start, from the start of the game you get to play a character only known to us(being the player) as "Kane". You also get to play a as a man known as Lynch (via split-screen co-op) or he will be an A.I controlled player if no one else takes the spot. You also at the start of the game get to decide which difficulty to play on. And now here's the joke, easy is reffered to as Asprin, medium is Codeine and the last but not least hard difficulty running in as Morphine. Now aside from those being rather comical to anyone who knows what these drugs are, I think it's time we start the review, wouldn't you say?

Storyline

From the start of the game, we see that our main character has been trying and/or attempted to send a letter to his only daughter, Jenny. We also know that he was being prepared for his execution, noting that he will pay for the pain that he's caused in the past which is still a bit sketchy. As he goes to get on the bus/truck for his transportation to get executed he is seated next to Lynch, who in terms knows Kane but Kane doesn't know him. We see that Lynch tells Kane to get down and that something was about to happen.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

Lynch then proceeds and pushes Kane to the side as the screen goes black and you hear explosions/crashing. Well apparently, it was a jail break so to speak courtesy of "The7". We they survive they're trek to freedom? or will they lose it all in a battle to stay alive?

Gameplay

Well, there isn't really much to say about gameplay. It plays almost like Hitman to the exception that you can't disguise and hide bodies. The game play is different of course which makes it all the more fun in my point of view. The online component, being named "Fragile Alliance". You'll know what it means once you beat the games single player, or just watch the video on how to play the game that is provided for you via game menu. Now as much as I loved the game play there were flaws in the cover system. First of all, I struggled at times to get onto a wall to either blind fire or just to take cover from what ever was thrown at me. But aside from that the cover system worked quiet well and shielded me from the majority of the bullets. Now the guns, for the most part on multiplayer you can't really get a lot of weapons, I think like about 3 or 4 you can use online, we got the MP5N, P-90, M-16 and what we know in the Counter-Strike world as the KREIG COMMANDO, how ever with this shortage of weapons online, there are a lot of weapons on the single player, too many to list anyways.

Now lets talk about the reloading system, It's honestly a bit odd, sometimes it reloads on its own and sometimes you have to push the "A" button on the 360 controller to make it reload. Now with all this in mind, ammo that is, in single player you're able to get more ammunition from your squad which is another major aspect of the games single player which is vital to the story line. In the story you eventually meet up with other characters who in terms help you out. Now seeing how you are technically employing them they are at your command, pressing the "B" button tells a person where to go and then if you have more then one squad member it automatically changes to the guy who hasn't been given an order yet. And let me tell you something, if you didn't have these squad members, you would be no where and the game would be impossible to beat. The bosses in this game are very interesting, more like a trial and error approach when it comes to them. Just remember certain actions trigger certain events to happen while waiting for cinematic to end. And remember when it comes down to it, think fast, nothing is useless when it comes to trying another approach in this game, ESPECIALLY when you have more then one option of going out in a bang.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

Now aside from everything mentioned here, we have the multiplayer portion or better known as Fragile Alliance. This game is interesting to the point is where the objective of the game is to get out and finish the game with the most money. But of course there's a twist, you can't get out with the most money unless you become the Traitor, and when you become the traitor you are no longer allied with anyone and everyone and everything is your enemy, the only goal for the traitor is to get out alive. The multiplayer is full of fun and swearing, how ever it isn't filled with a wide variety of online heists to do with other gamers. There are four maps and or scenarios to execute, which are:

Hot Coffee : Takes place at a dinner.
Late Night Opening : Takes place at the mall.
Withdrawal : Takes place at the bank.
Pagoda : Takes place in Tokyo.

Now, there are only four scenarios to do, and if you havn't noticed already, all these maps and scenarios have something to do with the single player campaign, more like recycled levels. Still, it's not bad, still provided me with some fun while playing online with a good group of people. The game can max at 8 players ranked to 4 players minimum. Now here's a downside to multiplayer, to start the game you have to fill the room completly and everyone has to be ready. Not bad but a pain sometimes when you have 7 or 5 guys and can't get one more person in the game. You can also have up to 5 rounds in a game lasting from a minimum of 2 minutes to 7 minutes max. At the end of each round you can buy a weapon if you have the money, and there are three types and kits to buy from ranging from fully armoured to semi armoured but packing good heat. The only time you have to re buy a kit is when you die as a member of the alliance. When you die you spawn as a police officer/agent/gang member and it is now your job to stop the people you were helping. Of course you can still walk away with cash if you're working against the other players. One way of doing so would be to, get a revenge kill on the traitor that killed you. Another would be to hit a person carrying money, money is also used as a secondary shield which is dropped when you are hit. And of course for killing the members of the alliance. Now, the goal of the alliance is to get to the escape van that is usually parked at the back of the map one comes every 30 seconds after the first one has been activated. And now remember the key of Fragile Alliance is to get out of there with the most money, now lets say you wern't a traitor and no one else was either, you all split the loot evenly. Now lets say your a traitor, you walk away with it all. All the money you grabbed that is. Now something cool you can do is wait for everyone to get in the van and then, blow the thing up with everything you got before it drives away. Something I did and was called numerous names for, and also got me shot next round.

Now that I've pretty much covered multiplayer, it's time to talk about the swearing in the game. Some if not most people complain about the game having way to much swearing. But if you think about it realisticly, no one would be calm and not using swears if they were under pressure and could possibly get killed. Just thought I'd throw it in there. I also think it adds atmosphere but others don't think so.

Graphics and Presentation

People have said the graphics in this game just suck, and are not next-gen. My opinion is that, there is nothing wrong with them, they look exactly like Hitman Blood Money, and in my opinion it looks good. And I think the same of this game. The game does how ever does have a slight frame rate problem, but only at certain times when a lot is going on, but keep in mind it's still playable. I'm not talking about going into bullet time type lag, I just mean it hiccups here and there.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

Other than that there is nothing really to cover in the graphics section of this game. Except maybe they're could have been tracers from the guns in the game. But hey, that's just what I like.

Sound

Now, the sound was done well, the music, depressing yet fitting for the game. The voice overs were just awesome to me, they really seemed like I was living the event that was happening, (i.e robbing the bank etc.) it really gave me the feel like I was there. How ever my only bad comment about the audio would be the weapons. I mean they didn't sound real or authentic, but they sounded more like someone was tapping medal with a hammer that anyone could have bought at a hardware store. But then again I have no real idea about the hard work that probably made the sounds and audio.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

But like I said it was still great, the down side to it was the gun effects, but other then that, it has my thumbs up. And trust me, I'm big on my music and audio, the music has to match the genre of the game for me to enjoy it. For example in Dead Rising, the music that just boosts you up to kick some you know what, you know where.
