In the past weekend, the Championship Gaming Series hosted their Individual World Championships for Dead or Alive (male and female), CounterStrike:Source, FIFA 2008 and Forza 2. The event is now concluded and you can find the results inside!
As last years champion in the CGS Individual World Championship wasn't attending the tournament, the Male Dead or Alive-tournament was bound to get a new champion. The favourite to take the tournament down was Emmanuel 'Master' Rodriguez from Dallas Venom, as he had previously picked up the MVP-title for the North American Regional Championship. Rodriguez didn't fall short in the tournament and almost litteraly whiped the floor with his opponents. In his two games, he lost 2 rounds, claiming consecutive 5-1 victories. His female counterpart, Vanessa from OPTX, was surprisingly not as dominant. As a skyhigh favourite before the event, it would have been nothing short of shocking had she not won the event. Vanessa eventually did win, but it took her 8 rounds before she could claim a consecutive Individual World Championship against Salvo's SarahLou. For the racing-tournament, CGS switched from Project Gotham Racing 3 to Forza Motorsport 2 - a move that completely shut out last year's everdominant team; JasonX and Ch0mpr. Instead Carolina Core's Phantom and GeneralEli had to defend the American colours in the tournament. They did good, but eventually fell to the Berlin Allianz duo of FinPro and YggdrasiL in the Grand Final. The Allianz victory must have been a relief for General Manager BSL who chose to stick with his drivers, even though the game changed. In the FIFA-tournament, Chicago Chimera's Eafra beat the European champion Manya in the first game, and never looked back as he steamrolled Patan 2-0 in the Grand Final.
