It's E3 time, and that means that we get a virtual goodiebag from all the game developers. Yesterday was no exception as Microsoft held their eagerly awaited press conference. If you like Final Fantasy, Gears of War or Portal you might want to peek inside.
It didn't take long for Microsoft to kick off their press conference with some kind of a bomb. Todd Howard, game director from Bethesda, went on the scene to show the new Fallout 3 demo. The game is supposed to hold over 100 hours of playtime, and will also have exclusively downloadable content on XBLA.
The next interesting news for the XboX 360 was Fable 2 which is being released in October, while the next game - Gears of War 2 - is going to the stores on November 7th. The 2nd edition of the game will also feature a 5 player CO-OP mode called "Horde", which is pretty much a rockband-alike mode; there are waves of enemies coming against you, and all you have to do is slaughter them before they do the same to you. It might not be as pretty as Wii Sports, but it will sure light up some evenings with the guys!

The Dashboard is getting an overhaul in the fall, you can even chose your own avatar according to Microsoft. Usefull stuff there! Something that is usefull in the overhaul is that you will be able to save your games on the harddrive and play them from there; no more choking or exploding DVD-drives, only a smooth game experience!
The rest of the specific changes, you'll be able to find on Major Nelson's blog.
For the music-fans there was also something special. XboX 360 will get its own Singstar-franchise; called Lips. Fantastic. For the REAL music-fans there is also some goodies. The "new" Guns N' Roses album; Chinese Democracy will have a song featured in Rock Band 2. For all of the fans that have waited 13 years for the album ,it might come as a surprise that Mr. Rose would actually sell his soul like that. The more objective observants it's expected. Rumour has it that the new Metallica-album will also be fully downloadable to Guitar Hero 4; now we just need the beatles-announcement!
As a closing remark, Microsoft also managed to throw a good punch towards Sony's solar plexus. The highly popular franchise Final Fantasy are going to have a 13th game coming out this year. For you who are not into RPG's, the franchise has traditionally been tight with Sony. They aren't any more. The game will not have an exclusive launch on the PS3; which Don Matrick didn't let go without a notice:
- Final Fantasy joins a long list of former PlayStation franchises finding a new home on Xbox 360...Thank you all for coming....
And it's over. For the full transcript of the press-conference go to EuroGamer.com.
